Our Story

MATE Creative began with two friends with an undeniable passion for social media and commerce. Whilst spending several years refining their skills separately, Katie Mellor and Terri Hartshorn came together to create MATE.

Meet The


Katie Mellor (Our Marketing Director) had always had a fascination with ecommerce and the opportunity social media platforms could offer. Through her late teens she spent countless hours researching social media advertising and consumer marketing journeys. 


After spending two years building her first £1m+ ecommerce business from 18 years of age she realised her passion in the world of business was in ecommerce brand growth and strategy leading to the creation of an agency.

Her guilty pleasures are: TikTok, coffee and her 4 cats. 



Terri Hartshorn (our Creative Director)


In her early 20’s, having completed a Bachelors in English & Creative Writing and a Masters in Project Management, Terri secured investment from the founders of boohoo to launch a fashion brand. After 3 great years building the brand, Terri exited the business and went in search of a new challenge - the world of social media. 


Terri has spent the past 8 years gathering a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fashion retail industry, and across the social media landscape. Most recently, heading up departments for huge global brands as the Social Media Manager for Flannels, House of Fraser, and Selfridges. Terri has developed and owned social strategies, brand values, TOV & image principles, community management, influencer management, and creative direction. 


Terri’s personal social accounts have over 60k followers. Her guilty pleasures are: sneakers, steam trains, and tiny dogs.
